Impact Catalogs Television Commercials Produced by The Coca-Cola Company
Detroit, MI - Archive
Impact, an international cataloging and media asset management consulting
company, has been selected by The Coca-Cola Company to catalog and digitally
encode a collection of its television ads. The Coca-Cola Company, on
its 50th anniversary of television advertising, is donating the restored
masters and cataloging records of its historic television commercials
to the Library of Congress as part of the Bicentennial Gifts to the
Nation program. The advertisements range from early black-and-white
ads produced in the 1950s to contemporary international advertisements.
Archive Impact is
cataloging more than 30 fields of data into The Coca-Cola Company's
Archives database. Additionally, research information from original
Coca-Cola archival and historic records is incorporated into the cataloging.
Archive Impact is also working together with The Coca-Cola Company Archives
to implement a state-of-the-art digital encoding process to convert
analog tapes into digitally rendered files.
Since
1994, Archive Impact has succeeded in indexing more than 700,000 images
and thousands of hours of footage for clients including corporations,
public libraries, archives, graphic and stock houses, film producers
and television channels. In addition to indexing and developing image
management programs, Archive Impact offers a complete range of archival
services both onsite and offsite for textual and multimedia collections.
A staff of 40 librarians, archivists and information management personnel
contribute diverse professional training and educational backgrounds
to the success of the company. Archive Impact coordinated one of the
largest private digitization projects in the field, with staff responsible
for the appraisal, arrangement, preservation, scanning, research services,
thesaurus development and indexing. Archive Impact has worked with small
non-profit organizations as well as some of the largest companies in
North America. The newly formed Archive Impact Interactive is launching
multimedia educational products in 2001.
